Free Goethe A2 Mock Test: The Complete Paper

This is a complete Goethe A2 practice exam — all four parts, one after another, with no account and no payment. We time you with a stopwatch rather than a countdown: the Goethe-Institut publishes the official length for this section and your exam centre confirms it for your session, and we do not state a duration we have not verified.

What's marked and what isn't. Reading and listening are marked here and give you a real score. Writing and speaking are shown as tasks and are not marked: there's no answer key for them, and judging them against the official criteria is what an account and a pass cover. Said now, not at the end.

What a full A2 paper contains

Four parts. Reading, from short messages to short articles. Listening, with longer conversations where the answer is what's finally decided. Writing, one private and one formal message. Speaking, in three parts, ending in an agreement with your partner.

A2 sits between your first steps and the level employers and training providers actually require. The most useful thing a full paper tells you at this level isn't your total score — it's whether you're ready to leave A2 behind and start on B1.

Sitting all four parts in one go

Stamina is part of the exam, and practising single parts never tests it. Someone who does well on individual parts and then drops off on exam day is usually not weaker than they thought — just more tired than they expected.

What you get at the end

Separate scores for reading and listening, each broken down by part, plus your writing and speaking answers in front of you. The answer key, the explanations, and the marking of your texts need an account.

Frequently asked questions

Is this really a complete A2 exam?

It's a complete practice paper covering all four parts, built to the structure of the real exam. Reading and listening are marked here; writing and speaking are shown in full but need an examiner.

Should I take A2, or go straight for B1?

That's exactly what a full paper answers. If you pass A2 reading and listening comfortably, your time is usually better spent preparing for B1 — the level jobs and professional recognition actually require.

Do I need an account for this test?

No. You can do the whole part and see your score and part-by-part result without giving us anything. An account is only needed to see the correct answers and to save your result.

Why can't I see the answers without an account?

Because the answers are the valuable part. Giving them to everyone who loads the page would turn this from a test into a list to copy. Your score and your weak parts stay free. Always.

Is this a real Goethe-Institut exam paper?

No. Old exam papers belong to the Goethe-Institut. This is a practice paper built to the same structure — the same parts, the same number of questions, the same task types — and it's one of the real papers inside Prüfungsmeister, not a shortened version.

Can I try the other parts too?

Yes. Every level has a free page for reading, listening, writing and speaking, plus one for the full exam. Reading and listening are marked automatically; writing and speaking are shown to you as tasks, because marking them needs an examiner — and that's what a pass covers.
